MetroPCS, the flagship brand of T-Mobile US, has begun implementing Amdocs (News – Alert) corporate payment processing solution in the context of a strategic multi-year agreement.
The solution is expected to enable MetroPCS to expand and optimize its customers’ electronic payment functionality, as well as reduce operational costs associated with customer bill payments.
A recent market trends report suggests that mobile payments are set to become increasingly popular in the coming years. The driving force behind this growth is the increasing use of smartphones. At the same time, the industry faces many challenges, including security, transaction fees, and a lack of user understanding.
Eric Updyke, president of Amdocs North America, noted that service providers are trying to realize the full range of mobile payment capabilities that their customers demand, but at the same time are concerned about issues such as transaction fees that affect their profits or customers’ lack of understanding of how to make payments correctly.
“Our Enterprise Payment Processing solution, deployed quickly at MetroPCS, allows MetroPCS to meet these challenges with a single, secure, private cloud-based payment processing solution managed by Amdocs,” Updyke said.
The expert is convinced that this approach will provide greater convenience for customers, keep operational and transaction costs under control, and provide flexibility as the electronic payments industry is still evolving rapidly.
Amdocs Enterprise Payment Processing technology is a multichannel payment portal that enables MetroPCS to offer its customers electronic payment options through a variety of channels, including interactive voice response (IVR), web portal, SMS, or contact center agent.
The benefit of the solution for clients is “smart tender management” as it processes payments using a cost-effective transactional method. Company representatives explain that this minimizes transaction fees and maximizes revenue.
The private cloud solution is managed from Amdocs’ managed services data center. In addition, the solution is also integrated with many banks and other financial institutions, in particular, to improve the work of contact centers, the company said.
“We are thrilled to continue our long-standing relationship with Amdocs by introducing this new solution which creates a shorter, simpler electronic payment process,” said Gary King, chief information officer for technology at T-Mobile (News-Alert).
Sprint announced the deployment of Amdocs’ Smart Agent Desktop as part of its Amdocs product portfolio at CES.
